Work has kept me so busy I haven't had time for blogging or visiting blogs lately. However when I came home from work yesterday and walked through the garden, my heart went pitter pitter pat, at how incredible everything was looking. I had 4 cactus open their blooms for Earth Day! This first one is a Gymnocalycium mesopotamicum. I am really falling in love with all the Gymnocalycium in my collection now that they are blooming.
This one was just labeled Echinopsis Hybrid- the furry buds are so cute and the red blooms amazing!

Gorgeous - falling in love with them over here, too!
How wonderful that your cacti bloomed on Earth Day! Quite a variety of flowers, I like the white ones best :)
Beautiful flowers...
I'm willing to bet money that your pink flowering cactus is some sort of Echinocereus... A lot of that genus have similar flowers... I'll see if I can find out which one when I have more time to search...
Oh my goodness, such BEAUTY!!!!!
What a great show for Earth Day!!! I simply must start a collection of these large flower blooming cactus! They are spectacular!!!
Hi Dee,
I love all your flowering cacti. They are just wonderful. I hope mine do as well in the future. I have beautiful gymnocalycium blooming too. They are really my favorite variety of potted cacti. They bloom so easily and what gorgeous flowers!
I never cease to be amazed at the beautiful blossoms produce by cactus plants!
Hugs and blessings,
You are so lucky to have all the open flowers on the Gymnocalycium mesopotamicum. Mine has buds right now, but it will probably be several more days before I see a flower. My red G. baldianum bloomed this week, but not the coral/pink one. I see one bud so far. G. baldianum is my most reliable bloomer--usually begins in April and goes until the first week of October. I probably have 200 photos of the blooms taken over the years!
