Bee Love

As I was driving up to my daughters today for a visit with my sweet pies, I was as usual listening to NPR on the radio. On Weekend Edition they were interviewing a guy talking about how some Orchids have evolved to look like a bee-butt sticking out of a flower- in order to seduce the bees in...Check out NPRs website for a link to"Orchids: The Inflatable Love Dolls of the Floral Kingdom" There are some stunning Orchid and bee pictures.
And a few pictures of my own: The early morning bees getting some action with the night blooming cactus before the flowers closed up with the sun. Click on these for a better view.

beautiful shots... My night bloomer is putting out 2 more flowers tonight. I don't think I'll be staying up for it though, I'll wait for the morning to take pics...

I can't sleep-so I should plant a night bloomer -I could take pictures all night! The shot with the bee is great!

Me, too - thanks for the orchid link, and also for that great comment about the butterfly remembering what the caterpillar learned. That's one of the best things I ever learned!! Love the bee-butt story, too. Just as we've suspected, the world of insects and flowers is PG rated!!

Lovely pictures of your bees visiting your night blooms. The last one is my favorite.
