Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors Saguaro

My neighbor just up the street is so lucky! She actually has this gorgeous cactus in her very own yard! I've always wished I had a Saguaro, but will have to do with coveting my neighbors. I took these pictures at sunset the other night. I love the contrast between the sky and the cactus and I never tire of watching the sun set over the Saguaro.

The last photo is especially terrific. I love the colors and clouds. Maybe you should hint about getting a saguaro for your birthday or other special event!

Having been born in AZ, I have seen Saguaros my whole life, and any more, they just blend into the landscape. I have five Saguaros (about 5-6 ft. tall now) and I seem to see right through them. I think if I lived somewhere else though, I'd probably miss them somehow.

I can see where you would covet, they are amazing! Those holes in them always look to me like they make them fragile, or vulnerable to wind - but that must not be so if they live to grow so large -?

It looks like the saguaro is waving a friendly welcome to us. I hope there is a special pardon regarding coveting just for gardeners, because I'm guilty too!

How beautiful! Too bad it doesn't produce babies for you to plant in your own yard:)

Thanks for your comments everyone!
Aiyana: now I can covet your Saguaro too! I hope you post about them sometime.

Deborah- they are tough even with the abuse some take from the birds. The inside is like wood- they really are trees of a sort. they live to be well over a hundred years old!

Gil: The Sonoran desert is the only place Saguaros live- that is so amazing to me!

Great pictures! We used to live in Tucson and have visited back in the area, and I know how neat it is to see saguaros in people's yards! Love your site and have bookmarked it!
