Bloomin' Tuesday- My cactus is in the pink

This "snaky" cactus was left to me by my homes previous owner. It started out in a pot, I planted it in the ground for awhile, and when it didn't do so great there, I put it back in a pot. It is currently doing very well and I just love how the new growth comes out pink. It also has gorgeous pink flowers, but I have never caught one full open with the camera. I've always noticed just a little too late to capture them. I keep thinking "Next time..."

I don't know what the proper name is for this cactus. If anyone knows please do comment and let me know.

This little "Thimble Cactus" (Mammillaria gracillis fragillis) in the picture below is flowering for the very first time! I bought this lovely little cactus early last June, and although the flowers are tiny, they are still a thrill to see.

I really like your snaky cactus. I have not had a cactus in years.

My guess would be the plant that davesgarden.com calls "Disocactus flagelliformis," but I've always known as Aporocactus flagelliformis. Far from certain, but the flower color and overall form are right.

The snake cactus is so pretty! It doesn't even need flowers with the pink popping out! The bloom and spine design on the one are so interesting. Great Bloomin' Tuesday post! Jean

It's so intriguing to see all your cacti in their 'natural habitat' (even if that snaky one prefers a pot). Cactus plants are the only indoor ones I can have because of the Gang of Four (cats). I have friends who have cats that could care less about plants, and the house is full of greenery. Not so at my place, it has to have spines or it will never las!(fortunately I really like cacti)

I've seen the snakey one before, love it in a pot so it can drape. Good luck on the name (its all Greek (actually Latin lol) to me:). Love the pink new growth and promise of blooms to be! Thank you for sharing!

Snaky cacti are one type of cacti that I am not very well versed on. If I would get a couple myself I would have to learn all about them, but they've never appealed to me. Yours is nice though. I didn't realize they turned with the cooler weather.

I love the plants in your garden - so different from the plants in my Northeast gardens! Your outdoor plants are my indoor plants.
