The many faces of the green envy zinnia

My experiments with Green Envy Zinnia seeds have been fun to say the least. I've had one perfect bloom and many weird blooms. There are still buds developing so there may be more that actually look like zinnias but so far the odd balls are winning about 20 to 1.

Here they are planted in one of the small beds I am using for seed experiments.

And I also planted them at the base of the bird feeder in a cement tube that my neighbor gave me. He gave me a bunch of these and I am still figuring out how to use them all.

Here is a current view of the bird feeder area.

Hope we all survive the hot temps coming this weekend here in Arizona. Happy weekend!

I think it is interesting that the leaves on your zinnias look wonderful with no crispy brown ones at all. But the heat may have caused the flowers to develop strangely. It looks like they are trying to make seed heads and not having enough energy to put out a lot of flower petals.

I love the photo in your avatar. It reminds me of a watercolor I once painted but the cactus flower was red. I think the one bush of zinnias looks really pretty. The flowers looked perfect on the bush to me.

Those cement tubes are awesome!!! How cool!

Love your very lightly colored zinnias...so delicate looking!

Hey I am really sad you are dealing with such horrendous temps there in AZ! Stiffling!!! Stay cool!

Your zinnias sure look strange - must be some wild-haired hybridizer in a lab coat responsible for them! Hope you get a few more "normal" blooms from them. they color's very pretty!

Haha,

I can empathize when I grew these a couple of years back I was always dismayed by the weirdos. Fortunately, I had enough of the fully developed blooms to make up for it.
