Taunting Mother Nature

The weather in Tucson this Fall and early Winter has been a contrast in seasons. We have had a few nights where it has almost gotten down to freezing and I've had to lug out sheets to cover up my tender plants. We've also had afternoons in the 90s- glorious warm sunshiny days that I want to bottle up and keep forever. As if taunting Mother Nature and Winter right around the corner, my Brugmansia has finally decided to bloom again.  It has grown huge in the last year, but only bloomed once last Spring.  The flowers start out yellow- turn white when they first open and then get progressively pinker. Once these blooms are done I plan on cutting this little tree way back and sharing some of it.  If anyone is interested in a branch let me know.

How lovely. Yes please bottle up the 90 degrees for me as it is cooling down here in the south.

How beautiful - love the photo particularly with the light shining through.

I'd love a branch, but we're such a long way away it would probably not last the journey!

(I've put the post up which was inspired by your neighbour's tree - come across and see!)

Ok- I am hoping to do the cutting this weekend. Please email me your address and I will get a branch out to anyone who wants one. You can email me by clicking on my profile and then clicking the email link.
And Raph-you too. They are pretty tough and I think it just might make the journey! :)

Amazingly beautiful blooms - I would love to be able to grow them but even though we are semi desert I am afraid we are too far north... I shall have to be content with your lovely pictures. Thank you for sharing them.

I adore Brugmansia. I visited my son in Spain recently and there was a tree there that defied belief. It was just dripping with flowers. I took many photos of it. How lucky that you have one too. (I found you from TFE's blog).
