Gymnocalycium- putting on a show for Cactus Monday

This cactus is called a Gymnocalycium baldianum. The blooms start out red with brownish tones, and as they age the blooms turn more of a pink color.

Head on over to Teri's Painted Daisies and join in the prickly posting on this fine Cactus Monday.

Cactus flowers often look so improbable to me - bright papery starbursts of color on those spiny knobby plants! They always make me smile!

That is delightful how the flower changes color. I don't think I've ever seen that kind of cactus. Very cool, Happy Cactus Monday!

Love both views but I particularly love the bird eye's view. The blossoms look so much closer in details now.
The colours are accented red pink finished and it's so attractive:)
Happy Cactus Monday dear dee:)

Gymnocalycium baldianum is my favorite Gymno. My cactus has just started to form buds, so you're way ahead of me. I do have a couple more Gymnocalycium species closer to blooming. I love the G. baldianum because it continually blooms from late April into September.
