Leaving Winter behind...

Winter hit Tucson hard this year, at least for a few days, but Spring is in the air and I am ready to dig in the dirt!

String of Pearls ready to flower

When I got around to the pots of cacti was I ever surprised to see several of them with buds showing.

The bulbs I planted last fall had started growing before the frost hit.  They are all sending up green shoots again!

The first Hyacinth

Last plant in the garden-broccoli- will it ever be big enough to eat?
The freezing nights hit some of my cactus the hardest.  The big prickly pears had large branches freeze and just break off.  In the almost 8 years I've lived in my home I've never seen this happen until this winter.

We had the same thing happen here in midtown. The cactus broke off and fell to the ground. I don't even know if I should replant them or not. That was some nasty frost for a week. The citrus had a hard time as well. Glad to see you writing:)

Heavy frosts! What a terror, I guess no one is safe from these plant killers. We got a bad one this year, it came and went in 3 days, nuked my whole excess succulent collection, then cleared up and was sunny and beautiful again... I should have seen it coming up here but still, never good news. Beautiful photos btw
