During a walk around my neighborhood at dusk I discovered my neighbors lovely Saguaro is starting to bud out. I thought the moon and the buds made for a great picture for SkyWatch Friday. As I walked up close to it I heard noises inside- it was alive with bird sounds coming from within the cactus. This Saguaro has lots of holes that must led to inner nests- it was so cool standing there hearing and almost feeling the vibrations of the birds.

That is an awesome shot with the Saguaro, sky and moon.
Wonderful pictures. How neat the birds live in the saguaro cactus.
I love those photos! what a fun site to see on your walk
I love the shots... fantastic . For a minute I thought the little white saucer like object in the sky is a UFO ..... cheers! ~ bangchik
What a wonderful photo of the saguaro and the moon! Those saguaro cacti must have a real presence - I'd love to see them in real life.
I love the fact that the birds actually live inside the cactus.
I lived in Tucson in 1952. A one main drag city with the bus station downtown one block from the YMCA. I used to sleep on the bench downtown one or two blocks from the bus station. I think it was on the UofA grounds or the library. Don't remember which. I worked as a window trimmer for an elegant department store, then called, Levy's of Tucson. And I panned for gold in canyons either on or beside Mt. Lemon. A long time ago when Tucson was still a small place.
How neat that you heard bird sounds coming from the saguaro. I wonder what kind of birds they were. I've seen woodpeckers making holes and I've seen an owl nest between the saguaro arms.
this is so fascinating. i didnt realize birds can live inside cactus.
I love these shots with the cactus, well done.
Cheers!

I love saquaros... fascinating plants. And I'm outside their growing range. I'm jealous that you live where you can actually see them every day...
That was a great idea to shoot the cactus with the moon - it's a wonderful photo. And to hear all the busy-ness inside must have been an extra treat!
Love the first pic!! Cool shot!
