A new favorite for Cactus Monday
I should know better than to start proclaiming "favorite" cactus blooms, as I did when my night blooming cactus bloomed last week. Right after that bloom died, one of my newest cacti, labeled just "Trichocereus" bloomed and what a gorgeous bloom it was! This one truly is in line for my favorite day bloomer anyway! The bloom lasted two full days, on my patio, out of direct sunlight. This cactus is new to my collection- bought within the last month from a local nursery. If anyone knows more about what kind of Trichocereus this might be please do comment. I had some fun doing some real close-up shots of the bloom- the red-pink-lavender colors were really striking.

oh WOWZERS, it is gorgeous!!! The color and the size is awesome. I am going to ask Aiyana to take a look. She is a Master Gardner from Phoenix.
HCM!!
That is truly amazing, looks like a torch held aloft!!
I see why that Trichocereus is one of your favorites. The bloom is so unusual, kind of like three flowers in one. And the colors are wonderful. Happy Cactus Monday!
Wonderful! Wonderful shots!
Loving the colours and blossoms here:)
Happy Cactus Monday!
love your cacti...so pretty
Hi Dee,
I would guess your cactus is an Echinopsis huascha (also called Trichocereus huascha or Red Torch Cactus. Also called Argentine Hedgehog.) It's hard to know for sure as there are so many cultivars, but that's my opinion. The flowers on the Red Torch usually last up to 3 days. Trichocereus is now classified as Echinopsis.

Hi Dee,
That flower looks awesome. It looks so big on such a small cacti.
