Catching up with December

I can't quite believe it is December and we are looking at the end of another year very soon.  I've been busy and haven't blogged much so I thought I would just do a general catch up of what is going on in my desert garden this December.  I am ever thankful for Pansies- they bring winter color to my yard again this year.  I bought quite a few and planted them in the cement tubes and in pots.  I love how they stand up to the cold and even a little freezing weather.  And the more I pick the flowers the more flowers grow back.  Who could ask for more from a plant?

I originally planted 3 Crepe Myrtle but I've not had much luck with the pink and red ones. The red one passed away :( last Spring, and the pink just doesn't do much.  The little "Natchez" white one however, flowered quite a bit this summer.  The leaves have all turned red in the colder Winter weather we've been having.

I am still nuts for my little bean trees.  They are a year and a half old now and have come along way from the days of sprouting those seeds. They are doing so well and actaully growing once they hit the 1 year mark. Here is the biggest of them.

The Pansies are not the only color left in my garden.  The Blue Plumbago and my Butterfly Bush keep putting out regular blooms.

The little pepper plant and my cherry tomato are also still giving a few here and there.

The Olive tree is producing too...but only the birds eat them. Otherwise they are just a huge mess to clean up!

Remember the two little Spiders from New York City?  It was just a year ago that they arrived after their long journey from my friends NYC kitchen.  You would not recognize them today. They seem to love their cement tube homes and I'm hoping they do well in them over the winter.

I sure hope Winter stays away from Arizona just a little longer!

I was wondering what had happened to you... hadn't seen you in a while.

I've got some pansies in pots that I really need to get out... some cyclamen and calendula also... all three will survive an amazing amount of cold weather... Actually, I'll probably get right on it, as I can choose between that and folding laundry at the moment.
